I am having a hard time understanding the different areas and what is more desireable. I read the Dorisol Recife Grand hotel was run down and not safe to walk around after dark. I have read about shark infested waters which does not exactly please me. Where is golden beach the Golden Tulip looked nice but I wondered if there was any life around it in reference to Boa Viajem?
Is all of Boa Viajem unsafe? Which location is better? I considered Porto de Galinhas but have read it is very small and I was not sure if there would be anything to do after the sun goes down. Boa Viagem is pretty lively at night--lots of bars and restaurants--but it is not recommended to go walking on the beach side after dark.
The pretty beach itself is posted with large signs warning about shark attacks, so few people go into the water, although the scene under the unbrellas is crowded on weekends.
I was told that the sharks have even come into knee deep water, so I chose to get wet next to some hopefully tastier little kids. The other option to stay is in Olinda , more convenient to the historical neighborhood, but although you can sit out on the jetties at night to eat or have a drink, the beach there is polluted.
Porto de Galinhas is not all that small, pretty typical of a lot of beach holiday towns in Brazil that do cater to what tourists want. Hmm not sure I agree about how lively Boa Viagem is.
